These are supposed to be bear tracks, but we’re a bit suspicious. Why?  Because we’ve seen a number of brown bear and grizzly tracks up close and personal over the years and they looked very different from these.

Once while we were visiting Glacier National Park back in the mid-1990’s, we had a mama grizzly — with cubs — come chuffing and grumping through our campsite in the middle of the night, starting us awake with her foraging noises and leaving us paralyzed in stark terror.  Much later after sun-up, we discovered she had left long claw marks in the roof of our pickup truck as we cowered just a few feet away in our flimsy tent (feeling like we were delectable human tacos on the verge of being discovered), and she and her babies had wandered around our camping area…
